How to use Theresa.
A few simple steps for a comfortable first conversation.
Install and open the app
If Theresa is new to your phone, download the production app from this site, open it, and allow microphone access when Android asks. If you already have Theresa installed, follow the backup-and-update steps on the download page first. A reliable internet connection helps Theresa respond quickly.
Create a profile
Enter your name, choose one of six companions, select English, Chinese or Bahasa Melayu, and give the companion a name (Theresa is the default). The app interface remains in English. Your selections are remembered for later sessions and can be changed in Settings.
Start a voice conversation
Tap Talk and speak normally. You do not need to hold a button. Theresa listens, replies aloud and can prompt you if you are quiet. Tap End when you want to finish; you can then choose to view the chat transcript or go home.
Add useful memories
On the home screen, open My memories & family stories, then Add memory. Choose English, Chinese or Bahasa, then tap Speak a memory and wait until the button says Stop dictation before speaking. Record for up to five minutes, pausing between sentences as needed. Tap Stop dictation when finished, wait for the final words, check names, then tap Save memory. You can also type a fact directly. No labels or separate approval are needed; the app adds retrieval labels automatically. Tap the microphone again to continue a longer story. Chinese and Bahasa dictation uses your available conversation minutes. Include the name and relationship, for example, “Sarah is my daughter.” Theresa also learns recognized personal facts from normal conversation. Each profile keeps its own memories. Changing spoken language does not require creating a new profile.
Keep an eye on minutes
A new eligible device starts with 240 complimentary minutes. All profiles on that device share the balance, shown in the app. When it runs out, choose a prepaid package in the app and complete payment in Stripe Checkout. Confirmed minutes are added to the same Device ID; no subscription is required.
If something does not work
Check your internet connection and microphone permission, close and reopen the app, and make sure you have the latest installer. Theresa is not a medical, emergency or professional-care service.
